As Data Analysts, we have a responsibility to be truth-seekers and truth-tellers. This means respecting the data and academics surrounding the problems we are solving, and being constructively critical of the work of our peers and business partners. It also means calling Bullshit on false claims when we see them. This short talk will explore the sources of the rise of misinformation in analytics, and provide some practical tools that analysts can use to spot it. We will also discuss the importance of creating a culture of skepticism and open inquiry in the analytics community. When we all feel comfortable Calling Bullshit, we can help to ensure that our work is accurate and reliable.
